What to Expect From Your First Massage Massage may be a new experience for you. Whenever we try something new and we don’t know what to expect, we may naturally feel apprehensive or nervous. If this is your concern you will be glad to know that Zach will do everything possible to insure that your experience is positive and rewarding. You’ll be asked about your reasons for getting a massage, current physical condition, medical history, stress level, areas of pain, and other pertinent topics. Expect a peaceful and comfortable environment for you massage. Please, report distractions of any kind to your therapist. Such as: Physical discomfort, room temperature, volume of music, or, any other source. How to Prepare: You’ll be asked to undress yourself in private and drape yourself with the sheet provided by the therapist. Many people do not wear any clothing during the treatment, but this is up to the individual. You may choose to leave on underwear. You’ll lie down on a comfortably padded massage table. The therapist will undrape only that part of the body being massaged, insuring your modesty is respected at all times. Receiving the Massage: One of the fine things about massage is that it allows you to forget about clocks and schedules. Try to relax and breathe deeply and regularly. Don’t try to help the therapist in any way. For example when it is time for you to lift you arm, let it be lifted for you. Allow your body to be completely taken care of by the therapist. |
After The Massage: When the massage is over, there is no need to get up immediately. Lie still with your eyes closed and absorb whatever you are feeling a few minutes longer. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues during a massage, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your massage.
